GYPSUM MILLS COOPERATIVE RESIDENTS MEETING DEC. 2, 2004
- Jim Anthony called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM. Approximately 30 residents attended the meeting. Gary Bach lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Jim asked for a moment of silence for the passing of James Segroves, a maintenance worker at Gypsum Mills, husband of Nora in the Maintenance Office.
- Announcements/Recognitions:
- The Suggestion Box in the Complex still has nothing in it. Residents are welcome to use it.
- Jim expressed thanks to Brian Peet and Sam Condo for organizing the October Halloween Party. Also, thanks to those Board Members and Carm Bartolone and his son-in-law and grandson for decorating and installing the outside lights along the main drive on the Nov. 27 weekend. Carm said they would try to get the lights turned on from 5-7 AM and 4:30 - 11:30 PM.
- Jim asked for more volunteers for future events, ask our neighbors if they can help sometime. The Scoop will show chairpersons' names so people can call them and volunteer.
- Barb Brackett asked if anyone knows of shut-ins in the park; please call Barb at 924-8274.
- A Girl Scout group has offered to sing Christmas Carols in December. Groups who want to do such things in the park should please notify the Office first.
- Minutes from the last Residents Meeting were read by Ron Platten and accepted with one change to show the Residents Meeting date of Dec. 2, moved by Jim, seconded by Linda Bartolone.
- Treasurer Report- Eileen Ramsdell said the balance on 11/11/04 was $2596.32, balance on 12/02/04 is $2292.27. Jim moved to accept this report, seconded by Brian Peet. The financial audit on Oct. 20, 2004, showed that the checkbook and bank were in balance. Thanks to the Audit Committee, Diane Mordue and Marvin Gelb, and to Diane for her great suggestions.
- House Fund/Facilities Report- Linda Bartolone said the fund balance was $53.89 in the pop kitty after transferring $85 to the treasury. She ordered new outside lights and extension cords for the decorations. She said that the Board had authorized Charlie LeBarke to clean the floors and carpets in the Complex, and that the cleaning job was excellent.
- Cooperative Center Use Report- Marsha Sutton received donations of $ 200.00. There was a Halloween wedding, November voting in the Complex, and Diane Crego has expanded the fitness sessions to twice per week. December is fully booked.
- Neighborhood Watch- John Brackett said that all maps have been updated and given to state and local police and 911 emergency personnel. Shirley Carney offered to get the Sheriff to come here and speak on identity theft, solicitation calls, credit card theft, etc. John re-emphasized that if you see any suspicious activity in the park, you should call 911 immediately, not the next day.
- Community Relations- Sam Condo said all letters were acted on, with 12 successes so far this year and one item still being followed up on.
- Legislative Affairs- Brian Peet said he would put the NY State Senate and Assembly websites in the Scoop. He would try to get a representative to speak at the next Residents Meeting in March.
- Management Report- by Joyce Southerton:
- The Fire Department session was cancelled by them
- The STAR program letters were mailed.
- The Rules and Regulations are being revised for consistency among all the Morgan parks, and they will become part of the lease agreement on Jan. 1. The Board is reviewing them, and there may be some minor changes.
- They have seen a very preliminary plan for the new complex building. The new mail room is planned to be indoors.
- There are less than 100 lots remaining for home placement, with a big backlog for spring work.
- Twenty-one Weight Watchers have lost more than 300 pounds.
- Joyce suggested that we think about having a street party for fun next year.
- Joyce mentioned that there is a donation box in the office to help Nora after the loss of James.
- She also mentioned that Jim Marasco has returned home after 95 days in the hospital.
- Unfinished Business- None.
- New Business- Residents Open Forum:
- Frank Legrett suggested that the underground wiring be repaired for next year's Christmas Decorations.
- Linda Bartolone appreciated the nice job done by Maintenance to their building and area.
- Shirley Carney said she has been picking up cigarette butts and bottles at the post office building. Joyce said she would put up a No Littering sign.
- Tina Skalski invited all to come to the delicious breakfast on Dec. 5, a great way to meet people.
- Linda Bartolone said there was still room for people at the Christmas Party; call Linda or Sam Condo.
- Sam Condo will be entertaining on New Years Eve; call Tina Condo for reservations.
- Jack Southerton said to call the Office if you see any solicitors in the park. Also, dog owners must be sure to carry a bag to pick up dog deposits.
- Jack and Joyce will be in Florida on vacation Jan. 15 - Mar. 15. The Office will be managed by George & Nancy Townsend.
- Jim Haskins is scheduled for hip replacement surgery in early December;
Nora Segroves is recovering from pneumonia.
- Meeting was moved to adjourn by John Brackett, Ron Platten second. Adjourned at 8:25 PM.
