GYPSUM MILLS COOPERATIVE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING - APRIL 14, 2005

  1. Meeting was called to order by Jim Anthony at 6:34 PM. All members were present except Sam Condo and Gary Bach. Also present- Diane Crego (Pool Committee) and resident Georgiana Huff.
  2. Secretary Ron Platten lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
  3. Announcements/Recognitions:
    1. A new "Sign in" sheet was presented for residents attending.
    2. Jim gave Special Thanks to all for the St. Patrick's dinner. Also received a Thank You note in the Suggestion Box from a resident.
    3. April 17 will be the New Residents Welcome; Marsha Sutton & Eileen Ramsdell will represent the Board of Directors. April 23 will be Pool Registration; April 25 Identity Theft presentation; April 28 Golf signup at 1 PM and 6 PM.
  1. Minutes from last Board Meeting reviewed by Jim Anthony. Ron Platten moved to accept as read, seconded by Linda Bartolone.
  2. Eileen Ramsdell gave the Treasurers Report: balance on March 3 was $2076.85, balance on April 14 was $2022.85. Jim Anthony moved to accept the report for audit, seconded by Marsha Sutton.
  3. Linda Bartolone had no changes to report for the Community Center. Jim Anthony made a motion for Linda to investigate the pricing for new tablecloths for the complex, possibly rose or burgundy, with new plastic, seconded by Howard. Passed.
  4. Marsha Sutton reported Complex donations of $ 250.00 for Feb. - April. Ron Platten was asked to send thank you notes in Sam Condo's absence. Bylaws were reviewed in that the Complex is to be used for resident's social functions only, not for business functions. The vacuum cleaner was plugged; New belts and a Bag was installed. The bag should be checked periodically. John Brackett sent a note that the small grill is rusting and grease from last summer needs to be cleaned off. Linda Bartolone will purchase a 3M grill cleaner, Ron Platten will write cleaning instructions and clean the grill. Brian Peet will check on getting a stainless grill cover made as suggested by John Bracket.
  5. Committee Reports:
    1. Pool - Diane Crego reviewed some minor changes to the Pool Rules; Board Approval was unanimously accepted.
    2. Community Relations - Linda Bartolone said Maintenance has added Vented Skirting Panels to their list for homes two years or newer. Residents should submit work orders if their home needs them. They help prevent excess humidity and mold growth.
    3. Legislative Affairs- Brian Peet is waiting for a reply from Senator Nozzolio to visit Gypsum Mills, and for more feedback from residents.
    4. RLAC (Residents Legislative Affairs Committee) - Jim Anthony introduced the new Committee, Jane Pierce and Saralyn Gould. They will also assist in the meeting with the Senator and report to the board each Month.
    5. St. Patrick Dinner Dance - Many volunteers cooked and helped; it was a huge success, with a net cost to the Cooperative of $ 111.00.
    6. Helping Hands - Jim Anthony reviewed the note from Doris Guyette regarding the growth of the group. The board was not able to approve dates for Center usage at this time as more information is needed.
    7. Election Committee - Marsha Sutton and Brian Peet are looking for candidates to run for the four Board positions whose terms are up: Eileen Ramsdell, Brian Peet, Gary Bach and Howard Strassner. Interested persons should contact the committee.
  1. Joyce Southerton gave the Management Report.
    1. Joyce will check the schedule for the new bike rack and butt can for the Mail Box.
    2. The Owners, Management and Board will issue an updated Pet Rule Letter, lowering the annual fee per household from $ 25 to $ 10. The fee for residents who sign up after May 15 will be $ 25. See the letter for details.
    3. Fencing has been started on Murphy next to Hunts Park. The Berm at the Thruway will be started soon. Some topsoil will be available for residents.
    4. Open House will be April 29, 30 and May 1. All residents are welcome to join in. Howard Strassner and Marsha Sutton will coordinate the food concession and cooking to raise $ 300. Food will be served from 11:30 - 3:00 PM each day.
  1. Unfinished Business:
    1. Richard Esse volunteered to be the photographer to take pictures of events. Rosemary Ellis also volunteered. Thank You!!!
    2. Re-conditioning of Christmas decorations will be tabled for now.
    3. Barb Brackett has updated the new phone directory and it may be delivered with the May Scoop.
    4. The board's Complex Use Coordinator controls the use of the bulletin board in the Complex. Board is not to be used for outside community information or Business advertising. No Business Cards.
  1. New Business:
    1. Joyce announced the Chairperson for the Special Olympics will be Dotty Domalski, held in August.
    2. Looking for a committee chairperson for the Annual Picnic July 16.
    3. Future board meetings for May-September will be the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Sales Office. June 2 is the Annual Residents Meeting and Election at the Complex.
    4. Marsha Sutton presented the Board with her Resignation, effective June 2, 2005. Due to a new business venture she will not be able to complete her remaining Year. The Board thanks her for all her hard work and wishes her a successful future. The Board will need to appoint her replacement.
