GYPSUM MILLS COOPERATIVE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING JULY 20, 2005

  1. The meeting was called to order by Jim Anthony at 6:34 PM. All members were present. Bill Hoffman lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
  2. Announcements/Recognitions: Jim thanked all for their help on the Picnic. Comments were that the Board organized it well, there was a great turnout, the committees worked their heads off, and everyone had a good time.
  3. Ron Platten read the minutes from the last Board Meeting, Jim Anthony moved to accept as read. Accepted.
  4. Eileen Ramsdell gave the Treasurers Report: Balance in June was $2663.11, balance on July 6, 2005, is $3744.40. Jim Anthony moved to accept the report for audit. Accepted.
  5. Facilities Report - Bill Hoffman has filled the propane tank. The Bocce fields are waiting for an estimate to be leveled. House fund current balance is $73.40.
  6. Complex Use Report - Leroy Lashua said the carpets are to be cleaned approx. 7/23. Residents are allowed to use the complex unless there is a scheduled private function in progress, except for the pool people using the bathrooms. Joyce said the air conditioner needs to be set to 78 degrees when an event is over, so the A/C doesn't run all night. Ron will follow up with Paul Ward to see if the pool supervisors can check this. Ron will make a note to hang next to the thermostat.
  7. Community Relations - Sam Condo has no issues to report. Residents with issues are reminded to contact Maintenance first, then Joyce, then Sam in that order. Joyce will follow up with a question on grandfathering trampolines due to liability.
  8. Legislative Affairs - Gaynor Seeber reports no issues currently.
  9. Helping Hands - Lou Guyette said the Potluck dinner had 48 people, the food was great with good variety and was well received. The committee has mowed lawns, shopped and cared for dogs for ill residents.
  10. Picnic Report - Ron Platten said the picnic was a success, and the expected shortfall of approx. $913 will be covered by the surplus in the treasury. Sam moved to donate $ 50 each to St. Patrick Church and Farmington Volunteer Fire Department for the use of their tables and chairs. Lou seconded, approved. Lou will send thank you letters for donations (with copies of the Scoop).
  11. Fitness Classes - Diane Crego proposed changes to her schedule to allow two types of exercise. Jim moved to accept, unanimously approved.
  12. Management Report - Joyce Southerton said the preliminary plan for the Complex expansion has been approved by the Town Planning Board. Joyce will follow up with Jim on the bike rack and the electric service for Christmas lights. Driveways will be installed starting 7/21, as well as the Thruway berm. The office now has a list of residents who will be getting small refunds for rent overpayment. Joyce will see if we could get two more tables for the pool area. Ron is to check with Paul Ward to be sure there is space. The next Open House will be Aug. 12-14, and Joyce is planning sloppy joes and possibly pulled pork sandwiches, as there is a function in the complex.
  13. Yard Sale - Linda Bartolone reported on the plans to date. Jim said we made $842 on food last year, and $158 in tickets. The board decided that a park map would not be necessary. Jim has made 350 copies of Food advertisement and Permit sheets.
  14. Hoedown - This is set for Saturday, August 27. Our cost will be $250 for the band and $100 for Jay for the area rental and tending the Cash Bar. This event is FREE, just bring your lawn chairs, open to residents only, 7-11 PM. Snacks will be served.
