BOARD MEETING MINUTES

November 7, 2007

  1. Don Kennedy called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. Not in attendance: Debra DeMars. All board members present.
  2. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was led by Terry Duffy.
  3. President's Announcements:
    1. Don said the trash on Plastermill and Brownsville never got picked up by the Town.
    2. The carpet in the Center was shampooed, and the kitchen vent system totally cleaned.
  4. Last meeting minutes- Don corrected the October minutes regarding Christmas Decorations- There was a misunderstanding by Don: Jim Anthony actually volunteered to help on the decoration committee but not to chair it. Lou Guyette moved to accept the minutes as posted on the website, with correction, Bill Hoffman seconded.
  5. Treasurer's report- Eileen Ramsdell reported a balance of $ 2,281.90 as of 11/7/07.
  6. House Funds- Terry Duffy reported October income of $ 39.00 and $ 24.50 expenses, with a balance Oct. 31 of $169.00.
  7. Cooperative Center Report- Bill Hoffman reported that in October there were 7 private parties, 1 Thompson Health Program, and 1 flu shot clinic. Bill said we need a new sponge mop, and the oven temperature control needs to be repaired. There is a December party scheduled for 12/15, so the computers need to be removed from the back room by then. Bill reminded us that the exercise room is locked during private parties. Bill moved that a rule be adopted to lock the library during private parties if young children will be at the party, seconded by Terry. This was due to some chaos in the library due to some children there. Approved.
  8. Breakfast Report- Lou Guyette reported the October attendance was 84, income of $73.85 and an ending balance of $250.00. Lou said the monthly breakfasts will continue throughout the winter this year. We need some volunteers for the annual kitchen cleanup (cupboards and drawers, etc.) on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 9 AM.
  9. Legislative Affairs & Community Relations- Nothing this month.
  10. Management Report- Nothing this month.
  11. Unfinished Business:
    1. Ron will obtain a seasonal flag for the Post Office.
    2. Don said Bill Morabito will do an Italian spaghetti dinner in January.
    3. We need some volunteers to help put up the Christmas decorations. Don suggested we get some artificial trees already decorated for the yard.
    4. Don said Thompson Health has a person coming to Gypsum Mills 2 days per week for 2-hour sessions. He will get more information on this.
    5. The AARP Driving Course still has some openings.
    6. Ron asked residents who have not yet sent us their email addresses to please do so. Our website will have the Contractor Reference Directory added during November. The last two issues of the Scoop are now available on the website in PDF format for those who are travelling over the winter at: www.gypsumcoop.org .
  12. New Business:
    1. Terry said we need a new industrial grade vacuum cleaner such as a Dyson for the Center. Bill moved that we spend up to $500.00 for this, Ron seconded. Approved.
    2. Lou said the Victor Community Chorus will provide a concert at the Center on Dec. 11 at 7:30 PM. Bill moved that we spend up to $150.00 for refreshments for attendees, Terry seconded. Approved.
    3. We need volunteers to put on a Christmas Party and New Years party, if anyone is interested. Don will try to find a chairperson.
    4. Lou asked if we could add a dropoff box for Scoop articles in the Center. Residents can also send articles by email to Nancy Townsend at: gtownsend001@rochester.rr.com .
  13. Lou moved to adjourn at 7:50 P.M., Bill seconded.
